Ideas for the unit summative assessment:

1. Students will make a model solar system in a shoebox.
- Decorate the inside of the shoebox to look like outer space.
- Glue foam colored & decorated planets on the bottom of the shoebox, and label each planet.
- Students must also label which planets are gas giants and terrestrial planets.
- Students can add in a model spaceship and astronaut if they would like.
- Students may also add other objects in space that we learned about including asteroids, comets, stars, and more.
- The background will be of outer space, and the characteristics of each planets will be correctly featured.
- Students can draw other objects in space including asteroids, comets, stars, and more.
- Students may also add a spaceship and astronaut.
- Information about their spacecraft
- How they got into space & the journey into space
- What they wear in space
- The planets they see in order
- Other objects in space that they see on their journey (comet, asteroid, rings on planets, etc.)
